ETCHED

ETCHED

She’s in, she’s out
She’s up, she’s down
She loves me, she loves me not

In an instant she’s planning to run away with me
The next she’s repulsed by the very thought of me
She twists my words and bend my feelings
Did she get what she wanted from me?

She’s my lover, she’s my friend
She’s begging me to come back, she’s kicking me out the door
She cares deeply, she doesn’t care at all

Love is a living hell
A prison for your heart and soul
Sending tremors down your spine

I try to forget her, but the memories remain
And her face still etched in my eyes
Everything I see, everything I touch it all reminds me of her
Have a drink and the pain will dull
But I only see her face in the glass

So here we are, over the edge of a cliff
Free falling to our demise
But you still wanna be friends
I don’t have words left to respond

So if we are through, my tears will fall on this page
And be my marker in time
The time when you showed me who you really are
Maybe I gave you too much credit
Maybe you were just a snake
